Long-distance move from Washington DC to Florida

Cross Country didn’t deliver my move

It’s been a week and my move is yet to arrive. They claim that they don’t guarantee deliveries but the contract clearly states that it will be delivered on 8/31/2023. Additionally, they. charged an additional 30% cash when they picked up. No one answers phone calls, texts or emails. Started a new job today and had to purchase work clothes (suits, dress shits, ties, belts and shoes) in order to start my job. Where are my belongings?! Very stressful.

Interstate Move.

I used the Cross Country Moving Group to relocate back to Colorado, when I finally left Florida after the Navy. This was to be my first major move alone and I was a bit nervous. My father recommended Cross Country moving Group to me, so I decided to give them a call and see if this was something I could do. Right off the bat I was blown away by their customer support and their eagerness to get me to my final destination. They not only packed and loaded all of my belongings but unpacked it upon arrival. The best part, everything was in one piece and there was no damage to anything, including all of my office equipment! Highly recommend this company for cross country moves!

Worst moving experience ever.

I am a nurse practitioner and have made professional moves in the past and this was by far the worst moving experience of my life. I have three children and booked this move 6 weeks in advance in order to try to make it as smooth as possible.
- My initial estimate was very inaccurate and the final price was more than DOUBLE the estimate despite only adding a few additional items.
-My movers never came in the two day window I booked. They claimed they had a "flat tire" and they were 2 hours away and that was at 1pm on the second day of the potential move.
-They were 3 hours late on the day they finally arrived.
-They broke several of my boxes and my filing cabinet loading the truck
-They handled the piano TERRIBLY even though we paid a special $200 fee for special handling.
-They had NO blankets or anything to cover any of my furniture even though that was listed as a part of the contract.
-They arrived smelling of marijuana
-The movers stole one of our kitchen items
-They were 6 hours late delivering my items

This was a devastating experience and the company reimbursed me $200 therefore recognizing how terrible they were but for a $7000 move that is basically a joke. I am happy to provide anyone on here photos and video of just how terrible this moving broker is- they clearly do not have any vetting process for the local moving companies they order.

My Moving experience.

Cross Country Moving Group have been amazingly helpful, I had a previous moving company and they fumbled the job , ended up dropping a box filled with expensive China dishware before they even packed it! Furiously I searched the webs for another company and saw the reviews and figured id give them a try. They arrived on time and carefully packed up my all my belongings meticulously, as we moved across the country they kept in touch with us along the way and let us know there would even be a brief delay due to bad weather. They arrived a few hours later but made up for lost time with how efficient they worked , They had the truck unloaded and all furniture moved in the house in a less than a few hours. If I need to move again, I definitely will use these guys!

Calmed my frazzled nerves.

I was incredibly pleased with Cross Country's work. I had heard horror stories about moving companies and I have never done a move this extensive before. This was the first time I have ever had to relocate for work. CC offered professionalism and order even when I was doing my best to have a nervous breakdown. All of my furniture and knick-knacks arrived without issue, including my favorite vase received from a dear friend almost 20 years ago. I had to make my move without much notice so I appreciated their attention to detail and patience even as I was feeling overwhelmed.

No bait and switch when it comes to pricing which was huge for me. I was on a very limited budget and I absolutely couldn't afford to have any "unexpected charges" come up later.

Very pleased with service.

Amazing company.

I have never been more impressed with a company as I am with Cross Country Moving Group. I did a long distance move recently and chose this company. I normally wouldn't use a moving company. When my husband was in the Navy, we always had stuff broke, never arrived on time, or just outright lost some of our stuff. I had a pretty tall order too. My husband has a huge garage, and that was my biggest worry because just thinking about packing it overwhelmed me. Luckily, I didn’t have to worry either because their movers were so prepared and had it done in no time. I had a short time to move, and even though it was last minute, my bill was still affordable, coming in around 3500.00. Which really impressed me. The staff were kind, very organized and paid attention to every little detail. I loved making this move because I didn't have to stress it one little bit. I would definitely tell anyone doing a big move to use this company.

Great Experience.

With a million choices out there, I was not sure which moving company to go with. I had done some research and heard both positive and negative things about different moving companies. My cousin recommended Cross Country Moving Group to me, so I decided to go with them. Sure enough, my move went smoothly, and my moving anxiety began to diminish! (Thank goodness..) Everything came to my new house safe and neat. The workers who delivered my property were polite and understanding. Every step of the way I was able to easily get ahold of whoever I needed to ask questions and coordinate my moving plans. Not to mention, the pricing quotes I received from other companies were significantly more than the what I paid with Cross Country. Needless to say, I will be recommending them to friends and family.

Fast, easy and affordable!

Cross Country Moving Group exceeded my expectations in more ways than one! First off their customer service is top notch and their staff is friendly and easy to work with. They went above and beyond making my relocation easier than I could have ever imagined. I was nervous at first because I had never used a moving company and have acquired some pretty nice furniture the past few years and didn’t want it damaged. NOTHING was damaged and they treated my furniture like it was their own! Overall my experience was great, I would recommend Cross Country Moving Group to anyone looking to get things moved within a tight time frame and hassle free, I had everything delivered on time and it made my transition to the west coast easy as pie. Thanks again guys!

A Great Moving Experience.

Cross Country Moving Group made moving easy for me and my girlfriend. We were moving from one side of the state to the other and really didn’t want to deal with the hassle of renting a van ourselves. On top of that, we were both really busy with work and didn’t have the time to pack everything. Cross Country Moving Group allowed us to move with little effort on our part. The communication was super clear throughout the entire process. The team was friendly and easy to work with. They went above and beyond our expectations by helping us set up our television and other appliances at our new place. I would recommend them highly to anyone, especially if you want to save a lot of time and effort. Our move was practically stressless, yet still affordable. Thanks CCMG!

Positives-
1.Once we got the Cobra Van Lines driver's phone number, we finally found out when we would get our delivery. CC Moving could give us no tracking information.
2.We did get our delivery in CA. one week after it was picked up in CO.
Negatives-
1.Despite a much higher price on moving day and despite the BOLDED message in CC Moving paperwork that we were to contact them if there was a discrepancy between their quote and the movers price, no one was available at CC Moving when we attempted to call them.
2.Our many hours spent itemizing our belongings seemed unnecessary as the mover came in and did a walk around estimate and based the cost on that estimate.
3.Communication with Cross Country was terrible, particularly with Josh, who assured us that if there was a problem on moving day with a price difference as past reviewers had mentioned, he would be available to help. See #1 above. Annie, as well, never got back to us about the price difference between the quote by CC Moving after she requested we send a copy of the inventory and what the movers actually charged. Price went from $4948 to $6373 which she admitted was a large increase.
4.Our dining room table leg was broken either when taken apart at our home or put together at the new home and no one mentioned it but merely put some tape around it. (See photos).

Caveat Emptor - Buyer beware.

My goods were picked up on June 7th, and was delivered today on July 29th for a 500 mile move. Everything arrived damaged as it was not wrapped up in furniture blankets. I have missing goods, and my brand new furniture bought in December looks like it went through a tornado.

CC Moving is clear that they are a furniture broker, however, the contract changed when the shipper showed up. You are better using U-haul U box container, getting a local company to pack the container, then have U haul move the box, and then a different local company unload the goods for you. My entire load is damaged, and I am extremely upset and disappointed with both this company and their shipper.

Also, they did not wrap any of my goods in furniture blankets even though the contract says so. Ron Rubin from CC Moving quoted "Wrapping of all furniture with quilted moving blankets." This did not happen, I provided bubble wrap to wrap some items, and they had some Saran wrap they wrapped things up with. Please see pictures enclosed.

How does this bait-and-switch broker achieve any positive reviews?

BAIT & SWITCH SCAM and MOVING FRAUD COMPANY! DO NOT HIRE THEM!

Here is part of the review I left including facts on Yelp! and Google reviews:

"My family and I were NOT included in any of the decision-making process of splitting our property move and truck shipment into two different stages, trucks or delivery dates. We DID NOT authorize this. We were told after the fact. Nor was I informed along the way in any kind before our move was in progress or that our property would be stored in an intermediate storage container or facility before our things were to be delivered in Texas. This is both a violation of trust and what had been verbally agreed upon by Streamline (the moving carrier) and me. I depended on Cross Country and Streamline to handle and take care of my move in one stage and not to store anything in any warehouse or let water damage occur.

*At least 40-50% of our things which had been moved had water damage and were handled with gross negligence resulting in scuffed, torn, broken parts and missing things. Gross negligence is a legal term which means that there is no liability waiver that covers the deliberate and what appears to have been intentional mishandling/storage of our property. We even had a cockroach appear in one of the opened containers from their LV storage. One of their movers told us to sue Streamline Moving in Nevada for everything, so this came from one of their very own!

*My family accepted/received the first shipment on the following Saturday, June 22nd at 6pm. 6pm? WTF. Who arranges for a delivery this late for a family with 2 young children?!? Was any of this properly managed or coordinated? I think not.

*As the Gonzalez family, we had waited patiently four more days for the items promised the previous Tuesday, and we received them at around 6pm on the evening of the 22nd. The movers (subcontractors as All State Relocation Services) immediately demanded payment in full for half the moving fee without a basic inspection of the items, for over +$5K due, which I had compensated for a total price of over $10.5K. I do not believe that Streamline deserves any compensation for the negligent and intentional abuse/handling and subcontracted transportation of our boxes, furniture, and goods.

That's when all the initial delivery problems happened. Your subcontractor movers scratched our walls and didn't fully organize, nor assemble every major items and left after midnight. This was not part of the agreed upon contract. This also is known as non-performance against a contractual obligation/term for not delivering assembled items.

We did not receive the last and final shipment until Monday, July 1st, and note that this is nearly 1 week later, also with damaged furniture which will be on the claim. The entire time, there was no communication to us, until we called the driver repeatedly.

We are currently expecting financial compensation for the stress and emotional problems Cross-Country had caused my family, in addition to the financial-- so this is not just a claim. So, we want our money back for the move because Streamline (their moving partner) was grossly negligent, uncaring and did not perform to any minimal level of competence on it's contractual obligations when handling our property.

Outstanding and affordable service.

Thank you! When I was trying to move I had problems then I called to make enquiries on moving rates. The prices they offered me to move across the country was super affordable, I couldn’t believe it at first and was concerned if it was going to be a very long process but it only took a short time to complete. Earlier I had called other moving companies to compare but this company had the best deals that I could find for my moving needs. I understand that not everyone will have a similar moving experience but for me, I am most certainly satisfied with them. They were straightforward and helpful to me. If I have to move again they will be definitely be my first choice. Thank you so much and I am very grateful!

Read BBB and find someone else.

My move from point A to Point B was 1526 miles
Per contract 1501 - 2000 Mile 7-17 days No mention of business days .
My items were picked up 8/3 I was told they would be delivered 8/11-8/13 I did not receive my belongings Until 9/1. I went short of a month with absolutely none of my belongings or any ETA .
I hired cross country - cobra vans picked up my belongings they were put in storage I stayed further away from where they were going Them a company unknown to me I think Amerimovers dropped my items off . There was a week no one knew where my stuff was ,
My initial estimate was $3400 Upon pick up once you lose your deposit and you’re ready to move the cost went up to $5600. I paid additional money to have pictures boxed and secure . Only to have a very large picture arrive shatter only wrapped in a blanket . There were additional items broken as well along with a stolen TV .
Cross country did awful job of following up with me as a customer, tracking my load and taking responsibility as I would expected them to do as they were the company that I hired .

Awful Craigslist quality for Expert price.

Hired Craigslist movers for my move. People showed up on Penske truck, unprofessional and without any tools and they were paid to assemble and disassemble beds. Nothing was wrapped for protection. All the dressers were scratched and mirror to a dresser never showed up (assume it was broken during transport). They also lost screws to the baby crib and demanded extra 500$ under the table because they said quote was way misquoted and it will take up more than double of the space in the truck than the quote. If you are going to use this company, do your self a huge favor and hire someone from Craigslist. I promise you will get same quality at worst for half the price. If I could give them negative rating I would.

Worst Movers Ever.

We hired Cross Country Moving Group out of Delray Beach FL to move us from Norman OK to Colorado. They in turn hired Xtreme Movers out of St. Louis, MO. Not only did they try to charge us for storage, after they told us the movers would not arrive for 4 day, but about 80% of our items were damaged. After we sent all of the pictures to Cross Country they fired Xtreme Movers and agreed that they hired a non-professional moving crew. Cross Country Moving Group told us they would cover the damages and make us whole. Then they would not work with us at all. Due to them firing the movers they won't work with us either. This is the worst moving experience I have ever heard anyone having. Please don't use Cross Country Moving Group unless you want a pile of wood and rubbish.

Would Never Recommend.

This company is the worse company I have ever used! They were to come on 5/28 showed up on 5/30 ( which is a Saturday ) the mover put stickers on things he didn’t even take my box count to 70 . He had me move everything from upstairs to my front yard and told me my other stuff was “junk” and it wasn’t worth taking . He also left a dresser but took all the drawers and when I asked if he could remove tho so I could take items I needed he told me he would take those free of charge ! Like I don’t need a dresser drawers if I don’t have the dresser regardless how free they are. he than MADE ME give him $200 for a tip before he would leave My house with my belongings . Then touches my leg and makes me sign a yellow receiptPaper that had someone else name under mine. But I was so uncomfortable considering I’m only 25 with a little 4 year little girl. And felt like bc of my age he could do what he wants. I than called Travis who told me I could contact him at anytime to ask why they were making me give them $200 to begin with . He called back an hour later telling me Not give them a penny after I already did and they left && now Fast forward to today 6-12 I still have nothing and everyday I call I get it will be here tomorrow . Today after I cane to tears about my belongings . I was finally informed my items were in Michigan ( it was suppose to go to Illinois to Florida not north ) and was told the truck has been broke down and they would know more on Monday but they legally had 30 BUSINESS days to deliver my items not counting the weekends ! But remind you they picked my items up on a Saturday after not showing on that Thursday . I have gotten the run around time after time and was finally left with “ contact an attorney and see what he tells you “ we have 30 days legally . I HOPE NO ONE EVER HAS TO GO THRU THIS ESPECILLY NOT A SINGLE MOM LEAVING AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP !

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Washington, DC

The Worst Moving Experience of My Life.

Do not use this horrible company. I would rather set everything I own on fire and use the money to start my life anew than to deal with this company again. I hired Cross-Country moving group to facilitate a move from Atlanta to Washington, D.C. I have no idea where the positive reviews for this company come from, but I had the opposite of a positive experience.

To start, the crew they sent arrived a day late, requiring me to change my hotel and rental car reservations and delay my drive North. When they finally arrived, they loaded all of my belongings on the truck, and after everything was loaded, at the very end of the day, they demanded $1146 more than the "binding" estimate that was initially sent. I had no choice but to pay them because I needed to get to DC the next day and couldn't afford to let them hold my goods hostage.

After a ten day wait, during which time I was given almost no information about when my goods would arrive, my goods were finally delivered. Words cannot express the terrible condition they arrived in. Almost every box was smashed and looked as if it had been rolled from Atlanta to DC. Nearly a dozen glasses, plates, and pictures were broken. I had packing tape taped directly to my wooden furniture and to other goods that caused damage. Dozens of my books were roughly thrown in boxes and arrived with ruined binding and bent pages. Four of my nice, expensive books (I collect books) didn't arrive at all. Finally, several of my nice kitchen appliances(my Keurig and my Kitchenaid mixer) were tossed, with no packing material, into a box with open containers of sugar, baking soda, and oatmeal that completely covered them and I am still trying to clean days later. I will need to spend more than a thousand dollars to replace and repair the damage and loss they caused.

You may read this and think I am exaggerating. I am not. I have dozens of pictures showing what my goods looked like when they arrived and have copies of my "binding estimate" and copies of the final invoice showing how I was scammed out of an additional $1146. I would never hire this company again; I would never let my worst enemy hire this company either. Spare yourself substantial heartache and hire a reputable company, move yourself, or sell everything you own.

Worst company for a move

I hired this company to move my son. Was quoted 1 price and when the movers arrived was told we would have to pay more than what was quoted because the company never called to get the exact items being moved. They pretty much told my son if he wanted his furniture he would have to pay the difference. The furniture was stored in a unit for 5 days and the company hired a 3rd party to deliver. Once again had to pay cash or money order to receive his furniture or it would not be delivered. So our 1200.00 quote turned into 1800.00. We also had damaged furniture and of course we don't hear back from the company. Horrible customer service and as they claim they are backed by the BBB that is a a lie. Don't believe what they say.

If I could have moved my son myself I would have but because of Covid I trusted this company. Nothing but scammers.

Cross Country Moving Group Review.

I recently moved away from California to Virginia and was a little weary about having to deal with a moving company after past negative experiences and because of the distance, but Cross Country Moving Group did not disappoint one bit! I decided to give them a try after reading all the positive reviews on here and I also find that I have no complaints. The movers were extremely kind and courteous. I feel like with previous moving companies I had to deal with movers who simply didn't seem to respect my stuff and would just throw things around and didn't take care of my stuff. With Cross Country Moving Group I feel like they took very good care of my stuff as if they were dealing with their own belongings. I will definitely use them for any future moves and will recommend them to all my friends and family!

Great services.

Helped some friends move back to Florida from Texas with this company and it was great. The movers helped with all the furniture since it was just us 3 (my two friends who are married, and myself helping them). All the fragile stuff was carefully packed and loaded up in a way that it wouldn't get smashed, crushed or thrown around during transit. The movers were friendly, polite and were fast but careful with everything. My friends were ecstatic when they got to Florida and the truck arrived a few days after with everything intact. Cross Country Moving Group made the whole thing easy, and a lot less stressful for all of us! I'll definitely use this company if I ever need to move cross country.

GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY (The move was from CA to GA).

The response time for getting a quote was right away, same as other brokers. I decided to go along with them since they came off very professional. (wrong decision #1)
Gave them the list of items I needed to move which were a bed, living room set, 2 large boxes, office desk, and a tall dresser.
They quoted for $1600. The person that did the quote listed whatever he wanted to list that can come out of a 1 bedroom and included in the quote along with 10 boxes and. When I called to do the booking I told him exactly what I had, and he mentioned that removing the boxes wouldn’t make a big difference and the price would be the same because of the large items.
So I went with it (wrong decision #2). They made me pay roughly around $600 right away as a deposit. They scheduled my delivery for Sunday. I had to fly out to GA that Tuesday. On Thursday someone from the company claiming to be Quality Control called me to review the quote. We went over the items I had and the quote. He put me on hold to come back and said that my quote was going to go up by $600.After I went nuts, he reworked it down to $80 extra. After 30 minutes of arguing, I said forget it and agreed to pay the $80 extra (wrong decision #3). Sunday came. No phone call. No driver. Nothing. My stuff never got picked up. Who do I call on a Sunday? I wasn’t even given a driver number by the company that dispatched the driver and confirmed to me on Friday that the driver would come on Sunday. But NOTHING. I called Monday morning and they reached out to the dispatched company and blah blah. Called me back to say the driver canceled the job and was calling the company over the weekend to let them know. Not call me but the office in Florida, while I was home waiting with my stuff packed like a dummy.
They said they are going to find another company to pick up my items. They call me hours later and found a company that would pick Tuesday or Wednesday. Long story short it was going to be Wednesday so I ended up missing my flight, and paying $200 for it.
My pick up window was 12 pm -2 pm.
The guys didn’t come until 8 pm because they were picking up other items. Took 3 hours. They were very nice and professional. When they got done wrapping up my items nicely and loaded them up in the truck, came for some paperwork.
The guy informed me that my bill has to be recalculated because my items use more cubic foot than what was reserved. So I had the option to finalize by cubic foot right then and there or gamble on my items going to the warehouse and be weighted for them to come back and tell me some crazy price. Ok let me pay the difference of cubit footage. After calculations of his cubic footage boom $120 added to my bill. I paid for half of the remaining balance.
3 weeks later, and after couple of phone calls from me looking to get a delivery date that was supposed to happen 5-7 business days from pick up, my items get delivered.
Before they unload my items, I had to pay the driver, not knowing if all my items are there or damaged or anything. I give the driver the final $580 and he had to give me $5 of change. I am still thinking no big deal because I am going to tip the guys that are going to unload.
They unload all my stuff. My tall dresser came off JACKED UP, ready for trash. One of the guy told me that when furniture like that get transported and stuff it doesn’t usually stay together and blah blah.
They put my bed together. The driver who was not even part of the unloading crew, I guess had another delivery to make and wanted to go so he came upstairs and informed that they wouldn’t put together my desk back cause it’s too many pieces and they don’t put together furniture like that and blah blah. Even though the movers broke the desk down. Told me straight up NO we will not put it together. They packed up and left, I didn’t end up tipping the movers, I put back together my desk, and the driver still took with my $5 change.

Long-distance move from Pembroke Pines, FL to Louisville, KY

Worst moving company ever hired.

Words experience ever.!!
They give a price over the phone after going over every item, and boxes we had,all to take my deposit.
When the moving day arrived, the truck driver when over everything, and call the company, and say that the 26 foot truck they send was not all for me,I suppose to used only have of the truck, base on the space the company set for us,we had a two story house with 3 rooms, two dining areas, and two living areas, plus around 50 already packed boxes..REALLY,ONLY HAVE A TRUCK.!!
Definitely and strategic way to get customers to pay more at the day of moving.
They wanted us to pay another $2700 after been contracted and paid a deposit of almost $2000..be careful people,NOT A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY.!!
